The Big Move – Torrox/Costa

Lars and I were looking for another adventure… Not a trip, but something bigger. It was a dream we had cherished for years and it was about time to realize it before we would become too old.

Moving abroad

We wanted to move to a country with a good health care system, a better climate and a cheaper way of living. Spain offered what Lars and I needed. After looking around for months on the Internet, we decided that we would start a new life in Torrox, not far from Malaga.

Torrox consists of two parts: Torrox itself, the small town and the coastal resort, Torrox Costa. Between the two is a distance of about 4 kilometres.

These are the first pictures I took of Torrox Costa, at the beginning of May.

Lars and I had become hungry so we looked for a restaurant where I could introduce Lars to the Spanish cuisine.

We went for a paella, Spain’s most popular dish. Lars and I chose a paella mixta, with a mixture of seafood and meat.

On another occasion, I had the deep-fried seafood mix, whereas Lars had a nice cut of beef.

What about this? Avocado mousse and shrimps and gazpacho with octopus as a starter and deep-fried prawns and a noodle dish with shrimps as a main dish.

In another restaurant, Lars and I tried some more seafood and we were not disappointed. I guess the pictures speak for themselves.

In the next posts we will introduce you to our new house, hometown and its surroundings. And we still have material about Belgium.

Beautiful. Good luck in your new home. I was in Spain in May and absolutely loved it. Malaga was one of our favoritebspots.
