Photo Essay – The Last Of Summer In Ostend

Things come and go. As do seasons…

In the beginning of September, the weather had changed so much that we all thought autumn had come early this year. It was time, so Lars and I thought, for one last trip to the sea. And off we were to Ostend. During one of our first trips, we had spent one week there and it had been fantastic.

Although the weather looked gloomy, we went to the old pier. Lots of good memories here.

The old cafeteria at the end of the pier is gone… And come to think of it, there was hardly anyone on the pier itself.

At least there were some birds to keep us company.

Back to the dyke…

The contemporary artwork left us with mixed feelings and Lars and I really didn’t like the new pier. We really hope they will not demolish the old one.

Anyway, summer would come back …

Love this! The color of the gray sky juxtaposed with the bright orange sculptures and sand make it a very minimalist range of colors that flows perfectly into one another. Thanks for sharing.

I know what you mean! I love the colours in that particular picture as well.

My hometown! Yes the red bricks, are very controversial here. For us, locals… it’s more about the location: a peaceful place of remembrance, our national seamen memorial. There are much better locations to place those red bricks. City bought this artwork many years ago for a lot money (and recently a very expensive restoration), guess with that money… they could do better and more constructive things with this amount of money. But anyway, always nice to see a glimps of my city on a wordpress blog. Muchas gracias:)!
